» » Arsenal & Man City retaining strong interest in Real Madrid star

Manchester City and Arsenal are still keen on acquiring the services of Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish newspaper AS claims that the Premier League giants are retaining their interest in the La Liga star as they believe he will leave the Bernabeu at the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old has struggled this year under Carlo Ancelotti and has only been used in the Champions League, with the Italian coach preferring to deploy Diego Lope in domestic competition.

As such Casillas' situation at Madrid has become the subject of hot speculation, with numerous sources linking him with a move away.

Both City and Arsenal have been mooted as potential destinations and it now seems as though they will continue to pursue the Spain international with a view to signing him next summer.

French newspaper Le 10 Sport claims that Manuel Pellegrini is still looking to find a 'keeper who can replace current No.1 Joe Hart, whilst Arsene Wenger remains unsure about the long-term suitability of Wojciech Szczesny./givemesport
